DDR4 vs DDR5: Which Do You Need?
DDR5 is the newer standard and offers higher bandwidth and better power efficiency than DDR4, but it costs more and only works with DDR5-compatible motherboards (most Intel 12th-gen+ and AMD Ryzen 7000+ platforms). If you're building a new PC on a current-generation platform, DDR5 is the better long-term choice. If you're upgrading an existing system, check your motherboard's supported memory type first: DDR4 and DDR5 modules are not interchangeable and use different physical slots.
